Hugh Johnson's Pocket Wine Book
I haven't bought many wine books, mainly because of the amount of information available online these days. This is one book that I have bought and found particularly useful. Small enough to take with you anywhere and packed with useful information. It contains information about regions, producers and vintages. Very useful to take when buying wine, going to restaurants and as a general read whenever you have a moment. It also contains an excellent glossary with frequently used wine terminology and a section on the fundamentals of wine, including information about different wine regions, terroir and grape varieties. A new edition of wine book review is released every year to ensure all the information is up to date.
If you were only to buy one wine book, this is the one I'd recommend.
